My practice...

What is my theoretical approach?

I would describe my theoretical approach as integrative - meaning I typically enjoy combining different elements of a few theoretical approaches to best meet the needs of my clients. I believe that the world of counselling and therapy is everchanging -  as my clients evolve, so do my methods. The most important thing to know is how I can meet my clients where they are at. Specifically, I adhere to a model of care that centers around the following modalities:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Attachment-Based Therapy

  • Existential Therapy

  • Experiential Therapy

  • Family Systems

  • Feminist Therapy

  • Holistic Therapy*

  • Mindfulness*

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Polyvagal Theory*

  • Relational Therapy

  • Somatic Experiencing*

* My preferred modalities

Heading 1

About Me.

I grew up near Edmonton in Sturgeon County, Alberta, and knew I wanted to be a psychologist since the young age of 15. However, my school counselor suggested starting with social work for practical experience before pursuing my Masters. So, after high school, I jumped into social work, spending six years gaining experience through jobs and traveling the world.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was accepted into the Master of Counselling program at the University of Lethbridge while working as a social worker for a local municipality. This role helped me combine social work experience with counselling skills.

Throughout my Master's, I worked as a social worker in various community settings, mostly working with school districts, children, families, and non-profit organizations. Currently, I work as a social worker with military veterans supporting their medical-psycho-social needs.  After graduation, I plan to continue supporting these folks and their families while simultaneously building my private practice.

I anticipated wanting a private practice, so I created a tailored practicum arrangement during my studies. With a significant interest in somatic therapy, I identified a need in a local holistic chiropractic clinic that was currently without mental health services. After showing  the need to work with the mind-body connection in a healthcare setting, they have invited me to continue post-graduation.

Besides work and education, my passions include going to the gym, travelling, learning languages, reading historical fiction, and discussing the latest Netflix shows with friends. My journey from social work to counselling has shaped my professional identity and a commitment to mental well-being.
